Volunteer confidentiality agreement

Opinions are not confidentiality issues.

Hmmm..."PR mistake" is my first thought.

I agree that heated discusions and negative comments in the school in front of students are inappropriate, but...that's too much.

Is there a penalty for not signing? What happens if you sign but do it anyway? I'm guessing her higher-ups have no knowledge of this.

I can't think of anything non-inflamatory to say about that so I'll just say that I wouldn't sign either. If I were refused access to volunteering, I would ask that the form be reworded to not include infringements on my rights to free speach. But I would be willing to protect students' rights.

Wow. You can move here. We'll take more volunteers. ;)

Our principle has recently drawen up a confidentiality agreement for all volunteers to sign. I agree with the fact that anything involving the children should remain confidential, but this agreement reads that all volunteers should refrain from expressing their opinions on or outside of school. I feel this will greatly reduce the number of volunteers we receive. I think it violates parents rights. If parents want to discuss staff members at the school or school issues this is their right isn't it? I really don't know what to do but I am refusing to sign. Any advise would be really appreciated. Our principle isn't well liked at the school and I think she is doing this to ease some of the bad comments spreading about herself but I believe that it is our first ammendment right to speak our opinions as long as it isn't about any confidential student information.
