Im with GAmom!!

Stretch the group try to "one up" the year before...make it more challenging, demand more, set goals!! Our board has not stopped since the end of last year. My 4th year as president! I do not like nor want to fail at anything, nor does our board.

are you guys for real, you mean I should be getting ready for September already?? Geesh, what am I going to do? Serious, I don't think I can look for motivation, it finds me when the time is right. Yesterday it found me and I started working on bulletin boards...now I am motivated. I have spent all of my time off for the last month at school painting a mural in the lobby...now the principal wants his office done! I told him he had to be nice!

As I read all your posts, I feel my enthusiasm building. The difference is instead of preparing myself for a year of being a Prez or other officer, I'm preparing myself for my first year of NOT sitting on the board. It's my youngest's last year at elementary and I decided to just do the things I enjoy and get away from the pressures of being in charge. dlf's note hit a real chord. I'm going to be focusing on the kids-time helping in classrooms(I'm going back to first grade), reading programs, book fairs-all those things where you get to spend time talking with the children and sharing a bit of yourself with them. I can't wait!

Ok, I'm feeling better now. Today was our PTO sponsered teachers' welcome back breakfast. It turned out wonderful! Three out of four board members were able to attend and that was a first. The PTO has always sponsered it, but noone every went to represent the group. I'm so glad that we did this year as the reception from the teachers was great!
Now I can't wait to get home and start really working on our "projects".

Thanks again!

Excitement IS contagious! Our old pres was just one who did as little as she could get away with. I am bursting with energy and full of ideas. At our ice cream social, I talked to everyone I could, laughed and joked, and just had fun. I could see people's faces light up as they caught my excitement (ok, some couldn't wait to get away from me). By the end of the evening, people were even hanging around my table to chat. I came home with a ton of new volunteers, including a Volunteer Coordinator, which we have NEVER had before. We even have room parents!! which we have never had before.

And that's what motivates me--showing that this school can have a great PTO, that parents of all walks of life can come together as a community and do great things for our kids, and kids who might not be all that special at home are the greatest when they walk into our school!
