I am also a new prez and ready to go! I am soooo excited. I long for somebody to call about all of the ideas running through my head after the kids go to bed. Exitement is contagious, we hope!

Hi! I am with Gamom. I am a first time prez so I am excited anyway, but I feel as if I am doing the whole thing by myself. I am much younger than most of the mothers and former presidents so they are used to not doing anything. I have been working nonstop on ideas and welcome packets and committee chair folders and boohoo breakfasts, all by myself. When I feel like laying down and quiting, I just think of the former execs that didn't do anything but just SAY "I am the president, vp, etc." I want it to be better for the kids with more fun stuff, more programs, more spirit than before!! Stay strong and keep up the good work! lj

Teachers: Inspire Your Students

Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary is promoting the use of Aerospace Education themes to help teachers excite and motivate their students to excel in science, math, technology, language arts, social studies, plus other traditional subjects.
The Aerospace Education Member (AEM) is a special CAP membership category that entitles teachers to access products and programs designed especially for teaching aerospace and integrating this fascinating subject into curriculum.
One of the many programs that excites AEMs is the Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX) Award program. Other programs are Fly-A-Teacher Program and products such as the International Space Station thematic unit that help teachers inspire their students. For more information about these programs go to the CAP Webpage: www.cap.gov/ae
One of CAP’s award winning program is the National Congress On Aviation and Space Education (NCASE).
NCASE is the premier aerospace education conference in the nation. This Forum is used to promote science, math and technology in the classroom. Presented annually since 1968, NCASE brings together educators from around the nation to learn from a variety of gifted speakers and motivational sessions. Educators share new experiences and discover learning tools that will capture the imagination of their students. Teachers learn how the wonders of aviation and space can be used to teach ordinary subjects in an extraordinary way.
Several awards are presented during the conference including the A. Scott Brewer Trophy, Crossfield Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year Award, National Coalition for Aviation Education Leadership Award and the National Congress Crown Circle for Aerospace Education Leadership.

Oh, dif, that just brought tears to my eyes. Thank you! Thanks also to everyone else that has let me know that it's not just me, others feel the same way.
Monday is our teacher breakfast so I'm kinda nervous about that and Friday is our orientation, then Monday, 8/7, is the first day of school.
I talked with the principal and he said not to start sending home any flyers, forms, etc. the first week of school, since so much other stuff is going home at that time. So that gives me a little leeway. We will have a table at orientation with info and sign up sheets, but that's about it.
It's going to be a busy weekend that's for sure.

Thanks again you guys, your great!

I remember in May when all of you folks were winding down and I still had 4 major PTO events before we let out in mid June...now to see you all getting ready for school I'm starting to get panicky about getting everything going (Ha). We've got 147 school supply packets to get ready, an audit to finish, treasurer stuff to transfer, and then all the packets to get together. I'm going to rerun a lot of the tried and true information pieces in our first newsletter and tons of paw prints to cut out for our membership trail. We've got a meeting next week and then I'll get hopping.
So where's the motivation...well I enjoy making things come together. It's one of the reasons I'm in this. I love to harness the bits of energy from many and make the whole come out fabulous. I love walking into the school and knowing that without the efforts of this organization I run, it would still be great but it wouldn't be fabulous!!!! I LOVE thinking there is a little boy or girl that may have a rough life at home that can walk into that school and find a bit of sanctuary and I thrive on the feeling that these children, mine included, will learn to believe they can do ANYTHING with their lives and make a difference because people they don't even know are working to make things happen for them.
So think about those balloons flying the first day of school, think about that little boy that's scared to get there and the mom that is afraid to let him go, and think about how important you are to making that journey easier for them...each one of us is making a difference in a child's life. A child we may never see again is feeling the warmth of our energies...and together...together...that warmth can hug the world!!!!

ARE YOU MOTIVATED NOW!!!!!!

Sorry, you needed help, not company.

My motivation is wanting to be better than the group before, not the whole group, but certain members who wanted to do just the basics and really didn't care. they were in it for themselves and not the kids. So just doing things RIGHT and better and having it be fun and not some bash session motivates me. just typing it gets my competitive side going!!
