There is a tongue in cheek contest called the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest to come up with the worst opening sentence to a fictional novel. Bulwer-Lytton came up with the classic opening line, "It was a Dark and Stormy Night..." , which you could use as a carnival name and have a contest for the kids complete the sentence for their fictional novel.
