Father/daughter Dance

Oh Unregistered....give me a break and get a grip. We are not being catty or high school in any way. The other moms are also friends of ours and not people we do not have anything to do with. We even invite them to come out with us, so you are completely taking my post out of context and turning it into something it is not.

Of course everyone is entitled to do whatever they want to do. I personally would never infringe on any alone time my daughters have with their dad as he works so much and it is a rare opportunity for them to have some 1 on 1 time with him. For me personally I want them to have something alone with him as they see me 24/7.

I think this was somewhat the point of the poster who noted for them to remind the moms that this is not something you should be coming to, to hang out as it does take away the 1 on 1 experience of it being a daughter/father dance. When we have mother/daughter events the dads don't come and hang out so it is just something that some mothers feel compelled to do.

Seems like High School all over again, doesn't it? How many of your pedestal steps need to be knocked off? So what if they are in the corner taking pics... I would be too unless you had a photographer for the event to do so. Moms can go out any other time if they really wanted to but to see a dad/daughter dance, even for a moment is priceless.

I'm so glad I work with down to earth moms on our PTO, It makes things much easier than wondering who's corner to piss in.

I would recommend that you remind mom's it's not a time to come check it out. If they would like to volunteer as help to be around that's great, but it's not the time to be standing around in corners watching and snapping shots.

I have to laugh because we have a yearly event like this and consider it time off for us. The moms go to a dinner and a movie and just enjoy some free time. We look forward to it! We always laugh about the moms who show up and stand in the corner....we're like go out have some fun! LOL

Thanks Perusing w/ Coffee!!

Since you have done this event for "ions." Is there anything else you do to make sure the dads don't stand around?

Our K-5 school is hosting its first father/daughter dance. We have hired a D.J. who will have interactive games going . Pictures will be taken. We will serve food and refreshments.

Has anyone done this event in past? If so is there anything else you can reccommend??
