That does sound like a yummy recipe. I'm going to try that out tomorrow!

I thought I was far away from nasty weather and all the yucky stuff it brings, but nooooo. Our realtor just called us. The house we are set to close on this thursday now has moisture and mold (maybe) in the attic because of melting snow and ice getting in around an inaccurately installed radon system. That's just great. So now maybe it won't be our house because the relo company kicks out any home that has toxic mold. The good news, if there is good news, is that the builder still technically owns the home as he was building it as a spec house. If tests come back bad, we don't have to buy it. But we have to buy something so we'd be back at square one. I knew things were going too smoothly this time around!

And, I have a cold that has come with aches, an ear infection and vertigo. So I basically have the hangover without the really good drunk first!

The silver lining is that Shorty just made cookies and is bringing me warm cookies and cold milk. Gosh but I love that kid so much!!

Well, it was an incredibly fun weekend here in Iowa! Ice, Ice everywhere and not a margarita to drink! We were lucky at our house and never lost power, but most of our town was out for many hours and from news reports there are still some without power. The ice just kept building up and then the wind started blowing and trees were falling everywhere.

This constant stream of freaky weather has me worn out.

It's Monday ... I really can not take digging out for the third time in as many days. All the rain and sleet others have is our snow ... begining to look like the east after their blizzards around here. How many more days until spring?!
Hope all is well with all of you & have a great Monday everyone!

I think this is longest I have gone without checking in here. I had to read like 5 pages or something. Not going to school this year and the low key role our PTO is playing with the new principal has left me a bit restless so I've been looking for a way to get out of the house more without my husband thinking something was up. I decided to start selling AtHome America. It's pretty cool and I've only been at it a week and LOVE it. My kids were getting all weird being all spread out (they used to share 1 room) so we stuck the beds in one room and all the toys, tv w/game systems, and computers in the other room and everyone is happy, My husband even gave up his little nook and moved his computer (and junk) into their entertainment room. The upstairs is now known as the "Boys Area" and the downstairs is known as the "Clean Zone." It was so quiet the first few days that is was scarry, but now, it's just plain awesome.
Speaking of weather, it's been crazy here. This week it was really nice for several days and I even had the house open for a few. Today I woke up and it was raining, by 10pm we had almost an inch of snow, and now (midnightish) it's sleeting. I hope it is better tommorow because I've got 2 birthday parties on opposite sides of town to get through.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

All this brown betty talk reminded me of an apple dumpling recipe from my granny. It's really easy too!
2 cans crescent rolls (opened, and spread out, each one cut into 1/2 to make another triangle, so that there are 16 instead of 8)
granny smith apples cut into wedges and seeds and skins removed (usually 4 apples)
1 cup orange juice
1 stick butter
cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar

Bring to a boil the OJ, butter, and sugar. While boiling, wrap apples in crescent rolls, put in baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon.Pour OJ mixture over top and bake for about 20-30 minutes (until golden brown) at 350 degrees.

This is heavenly!! And oh so good with briers french vanilla ice cream! I don't understand how you can use OJ in a recipe and not even taste it!

Hope everyone is well. Been crazy with my school, and trying to spend the rest of the PTO money for the year. It's so funny how the teachers are really showing up for everything NOW!! :) I got all the way down here and realized I hadn't signed in--this is GaMom.
