To heck with coffee CC, when my daughter starts high school this week I'm going to need a shot of something stronger. We've already been talking about things like senior boys who prey on freshman girls and such. I pity the guy who tries to pull something over on her, she is so wise for her age and he's going to shrink when she gives him her "are you kidding me?" look. If by chance she does get her feelings hurt, the guy better be big and tough and able to run really fast, 'cause I think her brother would open a big can of whoop on him. My son is little but he makes big guys cry in football.

LOVING my new car!!!

Luv, you rock. You really, really do! :p Congrats on the Altima. My friend has one and she loves it.

Menlo, hang in there. I hope more volunteers are stepping forward now that school has settled in and everyone knows their schedules.

d, funny as ever! How're things in your neck of the woods? Speaking of necks, how's yours????? ;)

Shorty started high school today! I can't believe my baby is nearly six feet tall, nearly driving and in high school. I need another cup of coffee..... Nothing froofy this morning. I need the strong stuff.

You know d, that is a great observation of the car buying process and probably very accurate. It amazes me that with all of the advances in technology so that you can "build " your car on the internet and even order from there, that the actual purchase process has not been streamlined in the least. Do you really have to go visit with your sales manager to work out the price? Come on, just have it all in the computer and lose a layer of management. Maybe the cars would be cheaper then.

So anyway d, I had let the men take care of it so far and all they did was screw it up, so I made one phone call yesterday giving the dealer who was searching for my vehicle a deadline of noon to get me what I wanted or I was walking. I told my darling hubby to call the other dealer who had called saying they had what I wanted being delivered that day to their lot and told him to see if they would hold it until we heard from the other dealer. At 11:45 I magically had a car on the way from the first dealer. They have been searching for 3 weeks with "no success", but I gave them a deadline and, well, what do you know?! This evening I will be picking up my new white Altima. I'm going to drive this car until it falls apart.

Menlo, stick to your guns on the workload. Don't burn yourself out.

LUV--I've told my husband that I firmly believe that car shopping is the continuation of some caveman like interaction between men. He makes a call; a salesman calls back; he makes a call; another guy calls...all the while they're scratching themselves and oozing testosterone. I swear when we have to buy a car my hubby takes four more showers a day due to increased body odors. When they all come together, they do some sort of ritualistic kabookee dance and VOILA--I have a new ride.

So my advice is stay away...stay VERY FAR AWAY...and let the men work this one. Who knows--perhaps you'll get something you actually like and can afford out of the deal...although I think that is why the original cave man became extinct...too much pressure to close the deal!
