regarding the Rock of Ages tickets, did they just send tickets or did they reply? I have not heard from them yet and we are going to purchase tickets soon.

also, qquestion for those who did show tickets, did you purchase a specfic date inthe near future or offer a general gift certificate towards purchase of tickets at the winner convienece?
We are located about 30 mins north of NYC so I think either would work, I just wonder which sold better.

Thank you

I received an email from IKEA stating they are being overwhelmed with requests from out of state. They say to contact your local store and ask the GM about the guidelines for donations.

TIA- Try Blue Man Group, Gazillion Bubbles & all of the museums. Also, if you get those local town newspapers, advertising/coupon packets, magazines and parenting catalogs left in the front of many local business; go through them pick out what you think suits your audience and e-mail like crazy. I got at least 5 donations from kids party places just from a cold e-mail. The smart business people know that all they have to do is give a nice discount for a party and they get multiple full priced parties as a result. You need to just have a basic cover letter e-mail stating either what you would like or butter them up with why they are a great fit for your target audience. If you have a contact name it is even better. Are you a member of Groupon or Living Social. Many of these companies are drastically reducing their prices to bring in business. If i got sent a Groupon/ Living Social alert for a somewhat local business, I sent them an e-mail as well. I got quite a few this way also. Don't forget to send your solicitation letter as an attachment so that they see your organization letterhead & they know it is legit.

This is my 1st year helping out & the auction committee at my school & it is a learning experience. The more you do, the more ideas you have for different avenues.

As stated by someone previously, you must think outside the box. I mentally had some baskets in mind and then figured out who I would need to contact to make it happen.

Good Luck
