The ULTIMATE Donation List

12 years 3 months ago #159496 by mattsmom
Just a thought - I know many of these companies get a lot of donation requests but you would think that some of the resorts (such as ski places like Wisp and Massanutten) would realize that if they give you something small like a water park pass or a snow tubing pass, that many people would go and spend additional money on a hotel, restaurants, etc... They would be making more money by having people spend extra dollars than having empty hotel rooms.

Does anyone here solicit donations for goody bags? I saw a post from a few days ago where someone mentioned contacting Wrigley's (which doesn't donate in my area) or Kettle Chips for a donation.

This is a great idea as the goody bags for our charity golf tournament are always woefully small.

Does anyone have experience soliciting goody bag donations you'd like to share?

This is not auction related but rather a grant...

Check with your local football team (professional). They have a "community quarterback award". All you have to do is download the application and nominate a volunteer in your organization. I don't know if it is the same in all states, but in mine the winner gets $10K, runner up gets $5k, and third place gets $2,500.

It is free to do and if you are chosen, the rewards are huge.

I spoke with Premier about the Cancun vacation - the all inclusive add-on is $79/pp/night and includes food, beverages, activities and taxes. So while that would be $632 for two people during the stay, the net incremental is $522 given the tax savings of $110 if you do not add on the all-inclusive piece.

Premier Cancun Vacation. I requested and received a certificate for a 5 day 4 night accommodations for 4 at the Laguna Suites Golf and Spa or the Ocean Spa for a family of four. No blackout dates, based on availability. Upon reservations a $59 reservation fee and $110 in hotel taxes are due. Vacation is for accomodation only and includes a 40% discount on a unlimited food, beverage and alcohol upgrade. As well as a 40% discount on excursions.

We will put this into our Live Auction. What should the winner expect to pay for the 60% portion of the food and beverage package?

Thanks in advance.
And Thanks for being such a great community. NormaGene
