Thank you for everyone who is participating on this board. I have had much success with getting donations for our auction. Thank you!!

I have one problem area for donations for my school. I have been asked be my school to see if I can get a 2012 Kentucky Derby travel package for (Derby day) May 5, 2012 for our Chesapeake Bay Academy Annual Fundraising Auction; this years theme is Race to Excellence ( Kentucky Derby).

I have been trying since August 2011 to get a package without any luck.

I also struck out doing it piece meal (getting tickets and hotel accommodations separate) for May 5 2012 without any luck.

2012 Kentucky Derby package would be one of our key big ticket items for our schools live auction.

I have come to a dead end.

If anyone has had any good responses, any suggestions and any ideas that will help, if you would please share them with me..

Chesapeake Bay Academy educates bright students with learning challenges including attention disorders (ADHD), dyslexia, and other learning differences (LD). CBA is the only K-12 school in Hampton Roads both licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to serve students with Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and other Health Impairment (OHI) and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.

Tuition at Chesapeake Bay Academy covers only 75% of the cost of educating each student, and the demand for scholarship assistance is high. Chesapeake Bay Academy Annual Fundraising Auction help us raise essential money for our scholarship fund.

I'm sure most of you might know this but wanted to share with us "newbies" to board. I contacted all of our local malls for donations. When request you should add the following.
We are request all donations from your organization including, gift cards, shopping bags, promotional items and coupon books.

They sent me the reuable totes with mall name. Coupons books and coupons from local stores. Also sent me tickets for the carosel for the kids to ride. Even though the items weren't big they still make a great basket item. I will pair these with restaurants that gave me a gift card that are in the mall or outlet.

Also try your local farmers market. I was able to get a reusable farmers market bag donated. I asked every vendor in the market to donate anything they could afford. I have a bag full of food and over $100 worth of gift cards from every vendor in the market.

For your food committee's! Bakeries are your friends! If you have a budget use it wisely. I've asked local bakeries to donate, but with a twist. If I buy one dozen of something they donate one free. You advertise the bakery and they donate goods. This works of course for more than a dozen but get my drift. But offer this to every bakery in town encourage parents to give you their favorite places. Also works for pizza places and deli's. Vendors want your business but also want to help give them a win win situation.

It's really going to hurt our grand prize trip to Disney if we can't get airfare and a hotel. Seems like lots of people are having this problem.
