@Just1Mom,

First thing, I like your user name!

Second, I forget how long it took me to here back from SU, but it wasn't long...for Su to respond. I thought 2 weeks or less. I will post again with the email address I used to ask for the donation and then the email address that I used to reply to when they sent me an email.

I will also try to see when I sent the first email and then when I recieved a response. I keep all the emails for the Auction...as I am sure everyone does!!!! We are soo on top of it.

I did have to stop and take my anxiety med, 'cause I was getting so frustrated and nervous about keeping up with everything! Ohhh Welll.

Beth - my email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you want to privately email when I get the time to look up the info. We are currently in a Tornado Watch, so I have got to go prepare the house with radio and flashlights!

For those of you who contacted Stampin Up, how long did it take for you to get a reply? I sent them an email over a week ago and haven't heard anything back.

Thank you for all of the information on this board. It has really helped me put together a great event. I didn't know about this board last year, and lost out on a lot of donations because I didn't have my 501c3 status letter and number. After reading through the posts, I found out how to get it.

Again thank you!

To comment on the too many items issue (I know it is a little off topic), I think you or your committee really need to consider timing and checkout to make the auction a positive experience. When I fist took on the auction requests and tripled/quadrupled our items our event coordinator didn't consider this. The checkout went on into the wee hours. We then learned that our local banks provide volunteers to help with checkouts with enough notice and give guidelines to determine the # of volunteers you need
  • Checkout cashiers = 1 volunteer for every 20 auction items
  • Live Auction spotters = 1 volunteer for every 30 people
  • Auction item pick-up area = 2-3 volunteers
The year prior we had 160 items and one poor checkout person. Doh! So, we do bundle items for the auction as baskets and sets and offer only about 12 baskets in the raffle. We also make sure we have loads of help for checkout. We do the raffle once the silent auction has closed to keep people entertained during checkout. The end result has been more positive.

I love that the community has been so generous donating but it is clear more than items make the event

I also recived a $25 gift from keurig and NJ Nets tickets.

Don't know if anyone has tried Highlights Magazine?? Someone in an earlier post had mentioned magazines & I also by chance thought of it when I was going through the grocery store yesterday.

You must contact Highlights 3 months or more prior to event. Their donation hotline # is 614-324-7034. It tells you what to do.

Norcal...I was wondering the same thing...I know at Green Mountain Coffee...one of the first things they have you do is give your Tax ID #....I applied for a donation last Aug and never heard anything back...and so I figured I would try again after the first of the year and it says that our Tax ID# has already placed a request in the past calendar year. So I am thinking that it just depends on the company as to how they determine the year.
