Question: Refund for a silent auction fundraiser

A 2 night stay in a cabin in the "off season" was donated to our fundraiser. Through miscommunication from both parties, the PTO & the person who bought it, the cabin will not accomodate the people who purchased it. They are asking for a refund & there are other people who would like the cabin & want to pay for it. Should the PTO refund the money to the orgianal buyers?

Yes, but make sure that you have a policy that refunds are only given in cases where there is clear miscommunication about the terms of the purchase. In this case, you already have another willing buyer, so refund the money and resell the item. It's worth the hassle to retain good will with the initial bidder.
