Question: Can teachers be reimbursed for gift cards bought?
PTO allocated a set dollar amount to each classroom teacher at the beginning of the year, to be used on "classroom enrichment" - supplies, field trips, etc. Teachers are now coming to us at the end of year asking if they can purchase a gift card before the school year ends, be reimbursed for the gift card with their leftover PTO funds, and use that gift card to buy supplies over the summer. Is there a legal issue with teachers being reimbursed for gift cards they have purchased in this manner?
