Question: Separate Tax ID #'s
We have three elementary schools, a middle school and a HS in our district, all with their won PTOs, bylaws, bank accounts, etc. However we operate under one tax ID and file taxes as one entity which has proved disastrous because every school has their own system of record keeping, some barely keep a system at all which means when it's time to file taxes getting all the information from all three schools is like pulling teeth. Is it possible to separate the schools so that each school has their own tax id # and file their own taxes?
