Question: What do you do if Principal suggests using funds for something else?

We had raised money for a specific cause, our schools Christmas toy drive. We had a large amount of money donated, and the principal did not want to be bothered with finding any other family to assist. So they suggested we just do another line item and use the money to help through the year. However, this was a specific donation that was received for a specific cause from families. What do we do?

Well, it's a balancing act. If you go along with the principal, will your group still be helping others out? If that is true, then you need to ask why you want to do it as part of the toy drive. Your answer, I'm sure if valid. But is it worth creating a strain in your relationship with the principal? Best bet: It would be helpful to explain that (calmly) to the president why you want to support the toy drive so he sees your point of view. Be prepared to stay flexible and open minded!
