Scrip Advantage

I'm in no way saying the operators of this site are guilty OR negligent - they are neither - they are INNOCENT. It just seems like there was some "known" history with the individuals at Scrip Advantage, yet an article on this site - doesn't directly recommend them, but indirectly legitimizes them. Maybe this all came out after the fact -- I'm just trying to find out, because that article mentions 3 other scrip providers, one of which is defunct as well - and one that everyone is blindly heading to. I'm trying to find out if this is a trend (scrip companies going out of business) - before subjecting more money from my organization to a failed business model.

Rockne/Tim -

You seem to be an original founder of this forum and or site? If so, and knowing what you seem to know about the history of the Coyle brothers - how could an article be allowed to be posted on this site that seems to "recommend" Scrip Advantage and/or National Scrip Center. Even if it was just a columnists opinion - could you guys have executed editorialship and warned people reading the article about the possibility of instability with any of these companies? Seems you know enough to ask this: is Great Lakes legit? New England scrip legit(the article is even referred to at their site)? I understand your response would just be your opinion...

Just FYI -- I think the National Scrip Center had plenty to do with its own demise.

That list dust-up came to be after the worm had already turned on NSC. It proved to be a convenient excuse, in my opinion.

We also are owed over $4,000.00 and have filed complaint with the Fresno DA office. We should of realize that the Coyle's are the same Coyle's that bankrupted Scrip Plus and were responsible for the demise of National Scrip Center by stealing their customer list and lying to their customers. I think this time, the Coyles will get their just reward...jail time. But I caution us all not to do business with them ever again.

Not exactly, but close. And the cross-connections are actually deeper. Some of this is from long-ago memory, but it's fairly close.

Coyle family members were actually involved in the founding of the scrip originator -- National Scrip Center. He/they then started their own scrip center -- Scrip Plus. Scrip Plus grew like a weed, and one Christmas about 6 or 7 years ago -- after taking on outside investors -- the outside investors swooped in and shut down/locked out Scrip Plus, due to a business dispute most likely involving ScripPlus losing too much of the investors' money.

Ironically, as part of the demise of ScripPlus, the National Scrip Center purchased the remaining Scrip Plus assets (inventory PLUS a noncompete that the Coyles had signed). NSC and the Coyles fought in court about the noncompete and NSC won, forcing the original involved Coyles to sit on the sidelines for a decent amount of time.

While the brothers Coyle sat on the sidelines, the Coyles' dad -- who wasn't subject to any noncompete -- opened Scrip Advantage from scratch. As soon as the noncompetes expired some/all of the excluded Coyles got back involved with Scrip Advantage.

Now here we are again..... ugh!

Just thought I'd provide some background.
