Shawn-I love it when you rant because it means I don't have to!

CC-have you thought about doing some volunteer work, maybe bell ringing, helping with your church, a homeless shelter, collecting food for a food bank, etc? Just something to make you feel better. I think you're having PTO withdrawl and it sounds like your school isn't helping you scratch that itch.

Incase no one's been lately, Starbucks has eggnog latte, peppermint mocha, and gingerbread latte on their menu. Nothing like some holiday flavored caffine to get you in the mood!

Just to give you something to think about, I'm teaching religous ed (4th grade) and tonight I happened to ask my class why Mary and Joseph had to beg people for a place to stay. The overwhelming thought was "Because Joseph was a bum and didn't have a house or money." At our teacher meeting afterwords, the 2nd grade teacher mentioned her class thought Jesus was born at the Motel 6. It was eye opening, I felt like I always new the story. Like I was born with the knowledge. I know my kids know the story. So maybe for those of you who want your kids to know the story of Jesus' birth, maybe you could take a few seconds to make sure they get it right.

As for my Christmas spirit mood lifters, we are having a birthday party for baby Jesus in my Rel Ed class where we are all bringing baby gifts and they are being donated to a local group that helps pregnant women and new mothers in need. At school, I'm making useful gifts for my favorite staff members and I've picked a handful of kids that I'm taking in after school because they don't have anyone to go home to after school and they are struggling at school. I wish schools would remember that it's not about test scores but whether or not a child can function in the real world. So many kids can't count money or change or even do math in their head the way they teach it now. My special group made cookies the other day with one reading the directions and another doing the measurements with none of the right size instruments (worked on their reading and math) and they were so proud of it. Neither had ever made cookies from scratch before. Can you imagine being 10 and never making cookies or having anyone play a board game with you? My husband teases me for finding a way to have more kids without going through labor! Hope ya'll have a good night. Irish coffees all around on me.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Shawn--i know some people we can kick! they are a very hateful k teacher and a pms'ing 5th grade teacher.

We had our teacher luncheon today and i arranged volunteers for every class, including specials. The deal was they go to the special lunch 30 minutes before there reg lunch and then also have their lunch break, so in total an hour. Well k is first lunch and out of 6 teachers, one threw a fit and hollered at me that she didn't want to go to lunch at 10:15 and she didn't want the volunteer i had arranged cause she just wasn't coming! So i sent the volunteer elsewhere, and the teacher calls me in the media center to ask me where the volunteer was. Then calls the principal cause I told her that she had a parapro and they could just work it out together, since she refused the help i arranged. Meanwhile, the para comes and tells me, she is so sorry about everything, that the teacher has been like this all week. The principal told me I was right in the way i handled things, and not to let her bother me, it was her (the teachers) problem. In my mind, i kept thinking, I hope she chokes on that turkey, and someone has to do the heimlick remover and does it roughly. Is that really bad to think?? oh well. Last year, the k's had last lunch and complained at the luncheons tht they only got the stuff that was picked over. This lady is just not a happy person. i think at christmas I may just make her a plate and put it in her mailbox.

Pass the jack please, i'll have mine straight up, with a lime. i like that song--all jacked up.

Don't drive your truck when your all jacked up!

Going to bed, i have to present project in a.m. and getting nervous about it.

If only shots of whiskey are served- we can kick 'em before, during and after- IF the pitcher is being passed around its before 'cuz I'll forget RAS and Knee dont rhyme
