CC - GOOD FOR YOU! You will do great in classes and you are giving not only yourself, but Shorty such a gift! I know that going back to school was absoutely the best thing I could have done for myself and my girls. Are you planning on persuing a certian degree?

Took youngest to a Karate "bootcamp" today. 4 hours of intense working out, training and such (keep in mind she's only 7!). Her instructor couldn't rave about her enough (he loves that she's fearless and so felxible), I'm just happy she loves it so much. Gotta tell you though - she's whipped today.

crazy4 - middle school years are tricky, especially for girls, but with you guiding her she'll be sure to succeed.

I'm getting some good vibes from the parent group at Shorty's new school. I've already gotten two email messages from the Hospitality Committee - one confirming my volunteer contact info and one confirming my offer to bake cookies for Back to School night. Registration was just Tuesday! They are really on the ball! Shorty says he's excited about me being back in the swing of things and says he looks forward to seeing me around school more.

I did a scary, scary thing today. I've applied at the local community college. It's been almost 25 years since I've been in a classroom! I'm taking math and reading placement tests Monday morning and will talk with an adviser about which classes to take. Then, classes start on the 20th. I'm scared and nervous but very, very excited too!!!

crazy4, I was nervous when my daughter went into middle school because she is so quiet and unassuming, but she has really blossomed. I guess the hardest thing for me was that suddenly she had all these new friends who I didn't know. They were from the other schools that blend into the middle school. They have all turned out to be very nice kids with very nice parents, but it was a little scary to suddenly have your child being invited to the homes of people you'd never met. We really had to enforce the "where, when, who" rule and I made sure I met the parents and talked with them before the event.

As for your bad middle school experience(which is too bad), just think of the true words of wisdom and the understanding you will have if one of your children has one of the same experiences you did. You'll be a great source of support and advice for your daughters!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

d - I compeletely agree with you. On my end, with my girls, I've got the "pretty" route. I'm trying so hard to teach them that smart is so much better. I'm also resisting the "gymnastics and dancing" pleas. I have such a hard time with these two activities because sooo much emphasis is placed on how small or skinny you are. I absoutely LOVE that youngest is so into her Karate (and to toot her horn - she is now an orange belt going for her green next month!) and oldest loves basketball.

Hey CC - glad to hear from you. You sound beat from this move!

Middle school countdown is begining. I'm so much more nervous than she is. I'm also having a very hard time not projecting my absoutely dismill MS experience on to her! Sigh.......:(

So CC--tell us what you're up to...do you like the new house...have you reconnected with any of your buddies from there? Blow any transmissions lately?

We went to the Redskins training camp last night. Can I just say I don't get it. I mean 2 hours there following buses, sitting on a dirt field at least 1500 yards from the practice (couldn't get close enough to even see jersey numbers) 4 dollar hot dogs and couldn't get near Moss to sign anything. And all, I mean ALL of these men were standing around like this was the best thing since sliced bread. Even my two little guys ran and tossed footballs like they were on the field with the players (although they couldn't even SEE the players).
You know I was never a cheerleader in high school and the "football" guys were just not my type--I don't think I was attractive enough for them (okay I KNOW I wasn't attractive enough) and now all these players from HS are the guys coaching my boys teams and I watch the one who's traded in his 30 something GORGEOUS wife for a 20 something GORGEOUS wife and a new baby. And he is absolutely nothing to rave about...
I really don't want my boys to do ballet--but I'm not sure I can hang with this for the next 15 years....sigh...
