Snow Day

Here in my neck of the woods we live for snow days. The ice days we can do without!

The Wednesday before Christmas we got ice and then a little snow on top of it. It knocked out power lines and a few trees. Christmas day there was alot of praying on the way to celebrations. LOL! It was very scary. We have nothing but crooked and hilly roads around here. So any kind of weather on them is dangerous.

The school district here sends a list of radio stations and t.v. stations to listen too. We are asked nicely not to call the super or the bus gargage. ;)

Fluffy white stuff?? Isn't that called cotton? lol. Sorry couldn't resist.

Remember around Christmas tiner68 and I were talking about how cold it was getting in Florida, well I'm not sure if Mother Nature is saying sorry for the hurricanes or wait til next hurricane season, but it's been great here.

Temps in the low 50s at night and high 70s during the day. I know that this weather is not normal for this time of year, so now I'm waiting for the ball to drop. Either we're going to get some more freezing weather or next storm season will be another duzzy. I've heard some predictions for both.

Well, I feel for all of you who are suffering from the cold, but I've never lived in that kind of climate.

Take care and enjoy the time with the kids!

Snow? Hmmm...that's the white, fluffy stuff you see on TV - right? It's pretty rare in this part of Texas. We are getting some cooler weather and it's supposed to be in the 40s & 50s the next two days.

Actually, I grew up in some areas that had fairly big snowfalls. So I have fun childhood memories of snowball fights, snow angels, snow forts, being all bundled up building snowmen, etc. I wish my kids could experience a little of that.

But I don't mind missing out on driving in ice & snow, shoveling drives, electricity going out, being snowed in, etc.

Stay warm and safe!!

My oldest has his first high school exam on Friday so the teachers warned them all to take home their books tonight, Wednesday. We got 4" of snow today and another 5-7" predicted tonight. If we get the ice they're talking about, snow day on Thursday for sure.

Question for you schools in "snow day" areas: do you have a system to notify parents in the morning? PTO used to set up a telephone network, but with 550 families and the school's website a click away, we dropped the telephone calls this year.

I have fond memories of the joy of hearing the phone ring at 6:00 am on a snowy morning. Roll over and grab more zzzzzs.

The ice is still coming down. They say we will get 1-4 inches of snow before morning to top it all off. Even if the kids go back to school tomorrow, I'm not sure I want to drive them in it!

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

No snow or ice here--just lots of rain. My back yard is flooded--we have a creek in the back of my yard and the water is now about 8 ft from my back door. Its up as high as the middle of the slide on my kids swing set and they say this is suppose to go on for maybe a week!!!! YUCK!! You all beafe if you are out in the ice!!
