The ULTIMATE Donation List

12 years 3 months ago - 12 years 3 months ago #159800 by CPasakarnis
Ofcourse! Following is the email I received from the inquiry I submitted on 'general questions' on their website:

At Coinstar, Inc., we believe in giving back to the communities that support us by supporting the fundraising efforts of charitable organizations.

We do this through providing in-kind gifts in the form of movie-themed gift baskets and promo codes for movie rentals. These gifts are to be used at charitable fundraising events like auctions and raffles.

Organizations may qualify for donated gifts if:

- The requesting organization is a nonprofit (501c3), and a correct federal nonprofit tax ID is submitted.
- The request is for a gift to be used as a prize at a charitable fundraising event, like a raffle or auction.
- The organization serves the community and has a mission we would like to be associated with. We prefer organizations that are focused on children, families, social services, scholarships, animal welfare, public health, recreation and the arts.
- The organization is not a religious institution or political organization. We prefer to support inclusive organizations that serve all people regardless of race, color, religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation and are not driven by a mission to propagate a particular faith or political interest.
- There are at least six weeks until the gift is needed for the event.

If you believe your organization qualifies, please complete the form provided here:

Thanks!

Hey All!

I wanted to also say Thank You to all who have posted suggestions on here for who and how to receive donations. This is my first year with our school's PTC (my oldest just started Kindergarten for 2011-12). and you all have brought on great success for our Fun Fair donations!

Companies I had Success With:

Disney (4-1day Park Hoppers)
Stampin' Up ($300 Basket)
Green Mountain Coffee ($25 gift certificate)
Chicago White Sox (certificate for 4 tickets)
Chicago Cubs (awaiting actual description)
RedBox (Movie Basket with additional rental codes)
Brookfield Zoo (6 Passes +free parking and family center)

Companies I have not had success with:

NY Giants (I applied when they won their first play-off game, but donations are reserved for NY/NJ) * I should add that I'm from NJ, so since I'm a Giants fan when I saw them make the playoffs I thought it would make for an awesome basket.

Hey Momx2! We also decided to advertise on a Facebook site this year. I think it is a great way to generate some excitement among the parents, while saying thank you to our donators at the same time. I try to say something anytime I get a notable item. We have had lots of people get excited about it.

Hi everyone - first a 'thank you' to everyone for all the great suggestions. I would be lost without this site and I did a lot of posting last year about my successes because I think we all just want to help each other.

Second, a suggestion - not sure if it's been mentioned before, but our PTO has a Facebook page. I've just started to use the Facebook page to ask for donations from our parents and it's working out great. One great idea: Girl Scout cookies have been making the rounds and I asked for cookie donations to make up a "Girl Scout Cookie Snack Attack Gift Basket" - the donations came within a few hours of my request!

I also used the FB page to ask parents if they know anyone who has a home-based business (Silpada, Tastefully Simple, etc. etc.) that would be willing to donate.

Then, I posted again and asked if anyone has a talent that they would be able to donate some time for: for example - do you sew? Would you be willing to offer a 1 or 2 hour sewing lesson? Are you a personal trainer, a massage therapist, etc. etc. I call it the "Do you? Dance" - do you do this, do you do that? It gets people to thinking about themselves and their own surroundings and what THEY can do that can cost little or NO money to contribute to the success of the PTO's Silent Auction.

With just over a month to go before our event, this has been a great way to advertise. We also plan on using Facebook to advertise our silent auction and raffle items to generate interest in our event. I remind our parents to ask their friends and family members to come out and support us as well. Our ticket price is a steal - $10 for free food and non-alcoholic beverages, all donated by the local community. There is something there for everyone and even if you don't have kids at the school, feel good purchasing things that you want or need or will buy as a gift for a birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc and support our school at the same time.

I hope this helps people. If you don't currently have a Facebook page, they are easy to create - just ask around. Of course, you'll need to get approval from your school. We did ours as the PTO - to separate ourselves from the school. We advertise the FB page on our school website and through fliers sent home in an effort to get more members. Good luck to everyone and thanks again for sharing all of your fantastic ideas!

I love this site and THANKS for all the information.

I'm just curious if there is anyone out there from Oklahoma and what items you have received for donations?
