Question: PTO Funds for Teacher Conferences?

I am on the PTO of a private school. The administrator wants to use funds donated by the PTO to pay for teachers attendance at teachers assocation conferences. What do you think about this and is this common? Thanks

Our parent group, also at a private school, does contribute some money towards teacher conferences. However, it is a flat amount, which does not cover the expense of every teacher. If you have already donated the funds, then their use is now out of your control. However, if you donated the funds with a specific intent, which was not to pay for conference attendance, then your group has every right to inquire about the reason. You always have to option to not donate or to hold out that amount and make it payable directly to a vendor, rather than the school.
