PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It's a broad-based program aimed at improving student behavior. Instead of addressing behavior problems one at a time and student by student, PBIS seeks to establish a schoolwide atmosphere that strongly reinforces good behavior and discourages negative behavior. The basic idea is that by creating a positive culture, schools reduce discipline problems and improve academic performance. You can learn more at www.pbis.org.
