Question: Meeting Time Frame

Every other month our meeting times change...3:30 & 6:00. Many are asking to make all meetings at 3:30, but I'm afraid that it will deter even one working parent to come. We are a PTO at a DODDS. So, the majority of our parents are military. What are your suggetions to make everyone happy?

I'm sure you know this, but it's impossible to make everyone happy. One compromise would be to hold meetings regularly at 3:30 if that works for your regulars, but hold a couple of meetings each year in the evening. Make those meetings special events -- have the school chorus perform or hold an art show. Bring in a speaker on internet safety. In general, don't worry too much about meeting attendance. If people want to get involved but can't attend meetings, well, you've undoubtedly got a lot of other ways they could help. In fact, attending meetings is probably toward the bottom of the list of how you would like people to spend their volunteer time. It's great to have participation at meetings, but it's better to have people attending your events, volunteering to help organize and clean up, etc.
