do nominees for office have to be present during the election? do they have to be present to accept their position upon winning the election?

Great question, prezli! No, the nominees don't have to be present. But, we'd caution you to make sure all your nominees know they are nominees and want the job! We have actually heard a few stories of people finding out after a meeting (that they did not attend) that they had be elected as a board member and they didn't even know they were on the ballot!
