Question: What discussions can be had at a PTO meeting?

Our school administration does not want our PTO meetings to include discussions of curriculum, standardized test results or other matters of school policy. Our by-laws do appear to cover such matters. How can parents respond to be sure such matters are included in our meetings?

Hi mnoti,
Try making it clear to the administration that you are not speaking on their behalf or representing their position on any of these issues. Parents should be able to discuss a variety of issues that relate to your school. Also, you can suggest that the principal attend meetings to answer questions parents might have.
