Question: Board member resigned. How do we fill the position?

Our New board was voted in last month. Unfortunately one of the board members is moving out of district and resigned her position. how do we go about filling her spot? No one else ran for the position or any other position for that matter. We have someone who is interested in taking her spot. Can we just put her in the Position? Do we need to have an election? It would be very hard to have an election now that school is out for the summer.

You would need to follow your bylaws on this. If your bylaws do not have anything in them about board members resigning and filling the position, you should go to Roberts Rules. At the very least you should open it up and not just put someone in the position. Best of luck Cheryl PTO Today
