Does anyone have a copy of the 2-4-6 Read-a_Thon that was posted years ago? If so, I would like a copy. In the planning process of our schools read-a-thon.

I decided to try to find out more info about the DT 2-4-6 program, and emailed a consultant from their website. Here is the response I received:

I would be glad to give you more information on the 2-4-6 program. It is a Reading Program designed to be a fund-raiser for a Preschool and/or Elementary School System. It promotes literacy in the home, as well as in the classroom, and it enables the teachers and/or school administrator to pick out the products of their choice based upon the funds raised. I will be glad to go over in detail with you the exact way the program works. It is very hard to explain via e-mail. If you wouldn't mind me giving you a call to go over it with you, please e-mail me your phone number and the best time to reach you and I will be glad to do so.

It appears that this is not just a fundraiser, but a way for the organization to get toys. I am unlisted, so I don't give out my phone number easily. JMO...if a program is too complicated to write about it in an email, then I don't want any part of it.

We are organizing a read a thon at our school for jan 21- we have plenty of info if anyone would like- we kept it simple. the PTO will get 60% and the teachers will get 40%. This year the teachers must spend it at the scholastic spring book fair- they also have other bonues so we hope to give each of the teachers at least $150 in books.

I have been following the postings regarding Readathon ideas. The 2-4-6 program sounds awesome. I am interested in obtaining additional information regarding how the program works.

Also, any ideas for a successful readathon would be appreciated.
