page two......

Here's to wishing we had some of that. We had a small blast fall in November and December decided to be unseasonable warm. No snow in Michigan for Christmas.

My kids are tired of being stuck in the house. Although we have no snow - it's all mud.

I remember the years when there was snow piled up for weeks/months - not just a few days. Seems this year will be one of those for you.

It's snowing again. As if 28 inches last week weren't enough!!! Another foot!? The city just finally cleared the street TODAY! I did get to take my five and a friend (I had a weak moment for a friend with a travel agency in her home- in three days she has have over 300 e-mails and her phone has been non-stop). It's amazing how the behavior of someone's kid can make you love your kids so much more! She had a great time but would "forget" that I was in charge...sure.

SO our school did a food drive in December and the 15th was their last day. So I was aware that on the 18th and 19th I was to pack away 2,000 cans of food and a church was going to pick everything up. Then it snowed. But it gets even better, the families we helped with food baskets and gifts were more than gracious to come Friday and we did have to deliver to one family (didn't mind as the school's maintance guy owns a huge truck and even helped dig them out of their trailer). Okay, outta 7 families there was one that had to be a pain. She told me that something was said Friday the 15th and she was very unhappy about and wasn't sure she wanted our help. At this point it was hard not to tell her the PTO and a familiy had spent hundreds on gifts and perishables for her children as well as canned goods for her pantry. I did tell her I had jumped through several hoops to be at the school and to make sure her children could recieve all that we had promised her. She did show up, 45 minutes late. I wasn't able to stay for her but the maintence guy told me she was so happy and cryed and thank you thank you.... he was polite but so upset at the way she treated me.

Sorry Karen, I've just had this bottled up and the snow is not helping! I should be usded to it being from Iowa but four feet of snow in about a week is too much! To make matters worse, I'm outta crafts, thanks are written, rooms are clean, and the new noisy toys are slowly losing their batteries. ooohhhohohohooh doggy gas!!!!!!!!!!! oooohhhhhhh eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

gotta go....

Hello Silver-
Great to meet you!
I understand about kids not eating while they are out. I have had that problem myself- but I have quickly learned to bring the food I know mine will eat. A PB&J in a ziplock always works. I get a few wierd looks from waiters- but they have learned a quiet kid with their own food is better than a whinner in a nice place.

Anyway I totally relate to quiet plans for New Year's. It is really not my night for much except a drink with my hubby after the kids go to bed.
We save our big night for our anniversary which is on January 14th.

Hope your holidays were great. Mine are always nice- but I admit I find the getting ready for the holiday always is a lot more fun than the holiday itself.
Hope the new year brings you and yours joy- hope to talk to you again soon!

Kathie - WELCOME! Hope your Christmas was great and your New Year's holiday plans are just as grand. I (and hubbie), as an old married couple with two kids under 10, really hardly ever have plans. If we can stay up past 10pm we are doing well! I might be able to pull off a dinner out, haven't done that it quite some time, but our last night out was less than grand. The kids refused to eat what they ordered and decided that 3 glasses of chocolate milk would fill them up! Kids.

T'was the night before Christmas, so quiet the boards
Not a volunteer was here typing; all out at the stores?
When what do my wonderous eyes but appear
A PTO Santa for each poster here...

To us all he brings spirit, to refill our coffers,
All the money we need to maintain our school's offers.

He's got boxes of bake sales and presold out candles,
Cookie dough, family nights, all the help we can handle...

As he turned to us all and said "smile with no fear..."
His spirit of giving would be ours till next year.

Then brushing his coat and wiping a shoe
He said "Many thanks for all that you do..."
"Somewhere tonight there are children just smiling,
all the memories you make for them just keep on piling..."

"Your the best" he said nodding and wiping a tear..
"I can not wait to see what you bring them next year!"

Merry Christmas with respect for all you do to make this world better!
