I didn't "plan" on running for an office...but I told one gal that if no one stepped up to the plate, I would do it....so, I guess I am the new secretary next year...lol

Replied by library mom on topic RE: Will you be running for office this year?
At our last meeting we were requesting nominations, But with only 8 adults there, nobody want to run for the vacant offices. We need a Treasure and a V.P. At least I think we need a V.P. We've had co V.P. this year, but they have not attended any meetings in 5 months and we only meet once a month.

Pres and Sec. have decided to stay in their positions unless someone else steps in. Nobody said that they want the VP position, so I said that I would throw my hat in. I have no idea what I'm getting into, but am willing to try.

We'll see what happens on the 26th of this month. I work full time, but I have read about moms on here that are Pres. that work full time so that my be another factor. I won't be able to be at the school all the time, but should be able to arrange my schedule (lunch hour, vacation, etc) to be there when really needed.

I can also do alot of work from home in the evenings and weekends if necessary.

Like Debbie, I have been the Secretary forever! I am actually finishing my second two year term! (Say that really fast!)

I mentioned I would like to run for President because the school is going to a all parent School Board (long story) and I would really like to work with the new School Board to change how volunteers are handled and the over all involment of the PTO (we are the best kept secret!). Our group also needs to become 501(3)c and.....what the beeeeeeep am I thinking!!! :D I feel as though I just offered to remodel Rome!

Then again I have to be elected first! ;)

So true-the first year is always hectic as you try to find your way. The next year is usually much for fun and goes more smoothly.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Run?! HA! I could walk backwards, blindfolded and still be co-president! LOL
My co-president and I have agreed to another year. We got a late start due to school changes and hurricanes. We want a chance at a full school year under our belts.

I will be running for secretary again this year. I cannot say what will happen in the coming years. Our by-laws state that one person can't hold the same position for more than two consecutive years, so I MIGHT consider VP and then go back to secretary. We don't exactly have an influx of people volunteering to run. It's really like pulling teeth. Regardless of being involved as a board member, I can't imagine not being involved in some capacity. I also head our family fun events and I really want to expand that greatly next year.
