The ULTIMATE Donation List

Has anyone had an issue with a company stating they will send a donation and then it doesn't arrive or it arrives late? How do you handle this? A large drug store chain sent us an email today with a link to a gift card; however, our event was in January. I will have to hold onto it until next year's event. An aquarium sent us an email back in November stating they would be sending us 2 admission tickets, and the tickets never arrived. If you don't receive something that you have already been notified that you will receive, what do you do? I don't want to appear greedy, but I called the aquarium in our state about the problem and they didn't offer to re-send any tickets. I guess through this I have learned not to advertise a donation until you have it in-hand.

The materials we received from Premier Vacations does not indicate that the winner needs to sit through a presentation. I know there were some comments on TripAdvisor about people purchasing discounted packages via a telemarketer that required this. I have not seen any negative reviews from people who purchased the package at a charity event.

Of the two hotels offered, one has much better reviews than the other, so we will be positioning the offering from that property. The $1000 value is overstated, but if someone buys this at our auction for $400-500, I think that is fair and they should not be disappointed. At the end of the day it is $400 for our school so I am grateful for their donation.

For those commenting on Bidding for Good, you will be amused to hear that we received the packet from Premier at school with the certificate, etc. A week later I received an email from Premier (Bidding for Good software) that our request was denied. I called and the certificate number was valid, so I let they know that they had already sent us the certificate, etc. That was the first time I have experienced that!

for those who got opi unexpectingly, when did you request for one, and when did it actually come like did it come 2 weeks before your event?
