Question: Voting controversey

Our PTSO elections are to be held on Tuesday this week. The nominating committee has proposed the slate of officers. This weekend past one of the people that accepted the nomination has had to decline for personal reasons. How do we proceed?

You can proceed and elect the existing slate. You can take nominations from the floor for the vacant position. If no one steps forward, you can hold a special election at a later date. It's not that unusual to recruit a new officer at the beginning of the summer, have her help plan, etc., then officially elect her at the first meeting of the new year.
