Question: Storage for Rummage Sale

We are considering holding a rummage sale in August to raise funds for our PTO. We'd like to start accepting donations now as people do their spring cleaning. Has anyone dealt with storing donations off-site? What are the legal implications (if any)? Are the items covered by insurance? Any thoughts people might be able to share would be great.

Is it possible to store the items at school over the summer? That's one option. One thing to remember is if your group has insurance that covers PTO property, it likely would not cover these items if your group stored them off-site or at someone's home if they were lost, stolen, or damaged.
