Question: Using PTA money to tip vendors

We are having a band perform at our spring family night and the committee chair would like to have cash to tip them after the event. I am hesitant to provide cash for something we won't have a receipt or invoice for. Is it common practice to provide PTA cash for gratuity to vendors as long as we have a request form from the chairperson but corresponding receipt?

It's not uncommon to give tips. If the chairperson has submitted a request and it corresponds to a cash amount withdrawn, you should be all set. If that still doesn't feel right, you could give them a check. Call it a "thank-you'' check.
