Question: Is it necessary to hold elections?

Is it OK to send email to feeder schools to recruit new officers without holding an election? We are a middle school that seems to have many working parents. It's proven difficult to get help for occasional school events, let alone getting all of the 7 board members to show up at monthly meetings and be involved. Unfortunately, it's a growing trend in our school. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, it depends what is in your bylaws. You do need to follow them, I would think that it is fine to recruit new officers and then hold an election. But you do need to check your bylaws.
