Some post and share where they got donations from so other schools can get ideas where to get donations some use the ones that are posted and some venture outside the box and search companys that are about the same! Then you get people who post that are mad because they cant get a company that they have gotten donations from for several yrs and they blame those new to the game because of so many request,,, but maybe they should look at the big picture get a donation from a company and move on dont ask for donations from the same company year after year maybe share the wealth and the feel of christmas to other communities looking for donations... or should we say the early bird gets the worm.... idk maybe some shouldnt be so greedy when it comes to DONATIONS
Agree with Dani about some of these companies becoming overwhelmed by the number of requests pouring in. Most the rejections we've had are from places listed on here. So at this point, I am looking to these post to tell me who not to waste postage and paper on asking. Once I see it's been on this board for a little while, I know it's going to be much harder to get. But I think the sharing of ideas is great. We are thinking out of the box now...and getting some better results.
Just an FYI for all of you.....I chair our school's auction and I was at first very excited when I came across this blog - sharing ideas is terrific! Yesterday, however I received a rejection in the mail from General Mills, basically stating that they are overwhelmed with requests and can not accomodate us. I wouldn't think much about it except that we have been able to rely on a donation from them for the past 13 YEARS and suddenly they are overwhelmed????? NOT a coincidence, since this is not the first company we've gotten a different answer from. Think about it! I know that you are all excited to share with the world when the donations roll in - it's like Christmas for me ( I get so excited), but if you do so and post it on here, there is a very good chance that they will get dried up and no longer offer donations to you in the future! I hate to be a negative voice, but really????? You will be sorry next year when you can't get these donations again!
