The ULTIMATE Donation List

12 years 6 months ago #158584 by tinkermonkey
I haven't scrolled through all 100 pages of this thread to see if this question has been asked before so please forgive me if it has. I know on the Keurig corporate site there is the donation request for a machine and K-cups and also on the Green Mountain Coffee form is an option for a machine and cups - has anyone tried to get 2 machines by going through both channels? Last year I got the machine from corporate and then did the basket from Green Mountain but the question lingered in my head and now that I'm working on all of my online contacts, it popped back up.

I recieved a donation from fundraisingrides.org. and they are donating a hot air balloon ride. It is possible to download the donation or have it ordered. I chose to have it sent and I got it within a couple of days. They have places all over the u.s. Hope this helps.

Any advice on what to write on cover sheets for the proposals?

Tamara -

Having 501c3 status helps a lot, but the time of year is working against you. For those companies with a fiscal year that matches the calendar year, many have already reached their allotment of donations by mid-year. They reserve the remaining donations for organizations they have supported before or local ones.

As to why you are not receiving items from Sponsorwise customers, many decisions are made based on geographic area and scope of influence (how many customers they could reach through your event). If you are a Christian school, that eliminates many companies that would otherwise donate. If you are only a preschool, only an elementary school, only a middle school, etc., that eliminates companies who would donate. If you are in a less affluent area, that eliminates companies. If you aren't in a large metropolitan area, that eliminates companies. You get the idea. Most of the factors that go into decisions aren't within your control to change.

Some of the stories through this thread of people with tens of thousands of dollars in donations make me wish that our hard work would pay off at the same level, but mostly we are just thankful for the donations we've received. Do your best to honestly answer every question asked on any questionnaire, but know that it's less about your answers than it is about your location/school.

Good luck on your event - ours is Friday and I'm up to my ears still in last minute followup for our auction.

I am very new to fund raising in 2011. Things are so different than ten to fifteen years ago. I don't know where to post this question, but thought I would try here. Does anyone have any advice on filling out the online donation proposals? I don't know if the companies are looking for one or two sentences or long answers with a lot of information? Sometimes they ask about sponsorships and I have no idea as to whether or not they want a list of companies you currently have donations from or are they looking for if the whole event is sponsored by a large corporation? Some of the forms really don't specify exactly what they are asking. Does anyone have advice on what worked for them when using Sponsorwise?

Our PTO is holding a Holiday Bazaar, Movie Night, and Silent Auction. I am assuming because we are a 501 (c)(3) and that we are having a silent auction to fund educational programs and supplies, that we will qualify for many of the items which are talked about on this message board. Yet it sounds like some people find out pretty quickly that they are receiving something from some of the same companies I have applied with and I haven't heard from anyone I have filled an ap out with on Sponsorwise. I am just concerned that maybe I am not filling out the answers correctly. Or does the word, 'holiday' keep us from obtaining approval for donations?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I should have posted this somewhere else, please also let me know. Thanks in advance!

Dear Kristen,

Unfortunately, we are unable to process any requests as we have been inundated with requests from schools for the last year, and we are still in the process of trying to accommodate the requests we already have on hand and in doing so we will have exhausted all our resources in this department.

Regards,
Kamal
