The ULTIMATE Donation List

Hi,

I have a quick question for those who have requested and received Disney tickets. I am working for a PTO that has a tax exempt number that is 6 digits. I cannot find an EIN number, thought I have asked and have been told we are a 501c3. When I've request a copy of the letter of determination or the EIN, everyone closes ranks and gets protective, as though I'm asking for highly sensitive info. I'm not, am I? Just want to double check.

In any case, what would you suggest I do in this situation? Disney wants a 9 digit number and I don't have it.

Thank you for reading this.

Bidding For Good and Greater Giving offer many services, and are reputable companies. Worth looking into for sure.

What I think you found were their consignment item services; these generally ask you to try and sell an item in your auction, and if it sells, you pay them a fixed price for the item (which you know ahead of time). There are other providers of these items, too - I'd suggest you also look at The Auction Vault and Winspire.

This makes the procurement of exciting items like vacation packages very easy. Lots of auctions use them. Just realize that when you sell one, your school or organization is only getting the difference between the winning bid and the consignment price. Meanwhile, your winning bidder has decreased their auction budget by the entire amount of their winning bid.

It's a trade-off; and occassionally one worth making. Just do so with your eyes open.

I'd also like to know more about Bidding for Good also. I don't really understand how it works. Do we puchase something and then offer it as an item at our silent auction in hopes we make more than we purchased it for?

Thanks!

We're still early in our planning stages for an upcoming event, but I ran across some things during google searches. Has anyone used any of the solicitation services? I've seen a few companies that help go get donations on our behalf, but I'm not sure they're a great deal.

Have you guys heard of any of them? Worth looking into or a waste of time?

SASE = Self Addressed Stamped Envelope.

For people looking for specific items, don't forget there is a wonderful search bar they put in just for this thread.
