The ULTIMATE Donation List

We figure 3-4 in the immediate family and 4 grandparents, so we offer 8 seats.
The hardest part is remembering to reserve them. We just put a sheet of paper that says reserved on each end chair and a piece of crepe paper from one to the other.
We have two aisles with chairs grouped left, right and center. So we reserve 8 in the center group.

That's awesome! How many seats do you auction?

We have gotten $600 to $1800 with most years in the $600 to $900 range.

We are auctioning off front row seats for the 6th grade promotion. Has anyone done this before? I know it will be a competitive item, but I'm wondering how much it could actually raise.

Aaahh . . .I can breath a little easier now that our event is over for this year! I wanted to say THANKS again for all the sharing here which added A LOT to our offerings this year. I have two ideas I wanted to share.

I'm not sure if I read it here or not . . . but my local YMCA donated a one month family pass. In our area the value of it is $66. Plus you typically have to pay a one time fee to become a member and I believe that fee is over $100. So . . . this allows someone to check it out for a month before incurring that fee. Our Y offers 2 hours of child care per day so that is a big bonus to mom's with little ones too! You're more than welcome to come in for a 30 minute workout and then break out your laptop or book and enjoy some "mom time" before picking up the kids.

Another idea I worked out is with the person in charge of our school lunch program. They primarily deal with one main food distributor who represents a multitude of food manufacturers. We offered the opportunity for someone to buy the rights to piggyback on the school's orders and be able to place wholesale orders through the remainder of 2012. The winning bidder can decide how best to utilize this . . . the more they buy . . . the more they save. They can even gather orders from family & friends. This helps to divide up items that may only be available in case lots. You could even add on a slight surcharge for your time in coordinating everything and thereby recoup some of the money spent at the auction. Our winning bidder was also invited to attend a taste-testing show next month where many of the companies represented by this distributor come and share their products and literature with school reps.

I hope that helps you out some!
