2014 Ultimate Donation List

KarenVan,

The Elite Resorts thing has been a topic here before. You'd have to dig a bit to find it. But I think the consensus was that most people didn't use it. We also got it, but when I checked, each guest had to pay something like $150 (don't quote me on that!) per person PER NIGHT. So a couple would spend $300 per night plus whatever they paid at auction. I didn't like that there wasn't any other option (like you could opt out of the meal plans) so we didn't use it as an auction item.

Hi ~

I have received the donation from Elite island Resorts. But in reading it, the winner would have to add so much to this. I am a bit unsure what to do. Has anyone ever received this and used it? If so, how did you market it? And how did you explain that the winner would be expected to pay for the dining, surcharges, and activities? How much is that charge?

Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!

Hi folks, a community member has a question about IRS info and seeking donations. Here it is:

We are a 501c3. When requesting some donations some companies require a W9. I do not know how to answer the question properly regarding federal tax classification. Our PTO is called School name parent teacher organization, Inc. I asked our tax person at my work and he said to mark "Corporation" and then under exempt payee code to put a 1. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Brooks has always given us a no. So has Sephora and Body Shop. I gave up on those.

We were turned down this year. It says not to solicit stores directly but I think it's
worth a shot

Hi, I'm based in NYC and I used the 2013 list last year to a relative degree of success. I am wondering specifically about Brooks Brothers. Has anyone gotten a donation from them successfully before? They have an automated Bidding for Good online form, but I've been denied twice now in the past, haven't tried yet for this year's event. I'm RIGHT NEAR their stores. Do you think I should try a hand-delivered personal approach or keep up the online form method?

Thanks for your help.
