d - Thanks! I needed a kick in the head to realize some things are stupid to stress over. Just forget everything I said. Still worried about my daughter's surgery, but I'm thankful it's not to remove a bullet.

Hey Shawn--just saw your post. I'm in PT now and gaining back a lot of what I lost. Asked the doc for a less aggressive pain reliever and he prescribed vicodin. Man--the other stuff must have been like cocain. I don't take them much. The creepy thing is when I went to therapy this therapist came up to me and introduced himself. He said "I just wanted to meet you because I can count on one hand the number of folks my colleages and I have seen that have survived this particular injury. They are either dead or quadrapalegics and we cannot help them". I looked back and said in my meekest voice "your not going to hurt me are you". I have to post for you guys my Thanksgiving president's column. First because I love to get feedback on these things before I print them, and second because it was an incredible eyeopener for me when it happened. I've listed it below if you are interested. Do you think there is too much religious reference? The principal has okayed it....but I'm hoping not to offend. I don't say who to pray to....here it is; (just found out instead of ... I should be using ;. Got that from the Paula Poundstone special on Bravo.

Bam! Have you ever had a moment where you realize just how lucky you are? I mean you’ll be strolling along through life and something hits you hard enough to make you stand back and think “Man—there but for the grace of God”. All of the things I write about in this column have happened. I try not to change anything so that you’ll get the impact that I hope to relay. Well, what follows is a true story. I have changed some of the details to ensure that all of the folks involved maintain their privacy. I recently had the opportunity to speak with one of our school’s students. They were new to the school having transferred in this year. The young lady was going on about how much she liked going to school here, how great the teachers were, and how much she was enjoying her year. I asked, innocently enough “What was it like at your old community”. “Oh not so bad,” she said. “I mean we knew a lot of people so we never got shot at”. NEVER GOT SHOT AT?!? This young girl, sweet as pie, in elementary school, was feeling okay about where she used to live because she didn’t get shot at. I looked at her and said “Hon, you know you’re not supposed to get shot at, right? That shouldn’t happen in anybody’s neighborhood.” “Oh I know” she said as we parted ways. I just stood there watching her leave. BAM!!!!
It strikes me we take so much for granted and no matter what difficulties we face in our lives, we are all so lucky. This Thanksgiving, I’d ask that if you have food on your table, you pray for the hungry. If you have a roof over your head, you pray for the homeless. If you enjoy freedom, you pray for our military. And I ask above all, you pray for the children. So many of them face hardships we cannot even comprehend. For this school, for these teachers and for the safety of all our children I am truly thankful.

May Thanksgiving bring moments of grace and warm reflection to each of us.

Have a Brilliant Day!

Well, raided the halloween candy and a diet coke. Met the appraiser, he took a couple pics made a few notes, said he received the information from the appraisal we already had done and will just use most of the info from that. So glad I get to pay him too. It's all just a technicality and a way to pay more money.
Sorry to have ranted before, just feeling alot stressed and a little emotional.

OK, I've heard there are lots of virtual drinks and plenty of chocolate to be found - I need them and I need them NOW. Trying to sell a house to my daughter, had it appraised, bank won't recognize that appraiser. There goes $285 - new appraisal today at 3:30, found out at 10:30 this morning. Talked bank into splitting cost - another $110 each. We're giving her a gift of equity - signed form, bank supplied form - this isn't the correct form. Told them if them wanted the correct form to next time give me the correct form. Learned something new also, if you have 20% equity, which she will, you still have to escrow the taxes or insurance or pay the bank $200 to keep your own money. Loan officer says they find any way they can to get more money from you.
On top of all that, same daughter is having surgery tomorrow - she's been off work all week maybe next week also. So I had to go clean the house before the appraiser gets there. Every semester in college she has had something happen - very clumsy or just unlucky. Was hoping things would change now that she had graduated and was working. No luck, she's staying with tradition.
Other 2 kids home today and tomorrow for conferences. No problems there as long as friends are around.

Hip Hip Hooray for six sigma!!

And about stupidity, cc and luv:

"99% of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at."

and most dont know what theyre dumb at.

this is totally different subject, a bumper sticker out there:

"Your kid may be an honor roll student, but you're still an idiot."
