Question: PTO Elections or appointments?

Our PTO does not have bylaws, a question recently came up about elections. In the past we have always filled positions from within or spoke to friends that were interested and have never had elections so we do not have a protocol. This year there are several outgoing board members and several current members that would like to change positions. Can we offer only open positions to new members or do we need to have elections for each position?

As a PTO you are an independent group and you should have bylaws. PTO Today is a privately owned company that is a resource for all parent groups. We are not a governing body that over sees groups.
